2. Impact printer:

An impact printer is a type of printer that creates printed output by physically striking an inked ribbon against the paper. These printers work by using mechanical force to transfer ink onto the paper, typically through the use of a print head or a set of pins. The impact of the pins against the ribbon leaves behind an impression on the paper, forming characters or images.


Impact printers are known for their reliability and ability to create carbon copies since the forceful impact allows the ink to be transferred through multiple layers of paper. However, they are generally slower and noisier compared to modern non-impact printers such as inkjet or laser printers. Dot matrix printers are a common example of impact printers, where a matrix of pins strikes an inked ribbon to form characters and graphics on the paper.
